hDAO Undercover Partner: Platform to Make You Cybersecurity Expert

4 min read

Since December 2022, hDAO has been on a mission to create a safe and inclusive Web3 environment with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles for all individuals. At hDAO, we’re committed to taking the principles of DEI to the next level by empowering every member of our ecosystem to contribute to the growth and success of Hacken. With the establishment of our Quality Control Committee (QCC) and the very first RFPs submission, every member of the Hacken community is evolving into a cybersecurity expert, actively contributing to Hacken’s growth. However, to achieve our ambitious goals for the future, we recognized the need for a comprehensive solution that would enable seamless governance, high security, and exceptional user experience for our community members. After an extensive search, we are pleased to disclose some details on the forthcoming partnership with a cutting-edge product, whose functionality perfectly aligns with the hDAO prospects.

Unlocking Power of Governance

There are some common critical challenges that DAOs can face, such as potential abuse of authority, false decentralization, and centralized control over decision-making.

With months of negotiations, we have been working on integrating the hDAO governance into one platform that can address common issues of decentralized governance. This partnership offers a brand-new approach, and we see its relevance for our evolving hDAO. The platform we will integrate hDAO with is in the development stage and will be announced soon.

What are the benefits this partnership brings to each HAI holder and hDAO member?

  • Ability to run DAO fully decentralized, preventing plutocracy
  • Constant exchange of experience and expertise with other DAOs
  • Ability to become a member of an expert DAO (both hDAO-based and other)
  • Personal expertise broadcast through new collaborations
  • Space to keep on amplifying Hacken’s position in the crypto industry with expertise and real contribution.

DAO Platforms Overview

To define the most convenient platform for hDAO, we reviewed the most regnant products in the market. We’ve been considering Karma, which offers a reputation system that grants visibility into a DAO’s contributor activity, but the product we’ve chosen provides another unique value of a non-linear, quadratic voting system and automated rewarding, ensuring no undue influence over governance operations.

We also explored Tally, where usernames (ENS) are required when contributing to DAOs which can be a removing obstacle for participation. The partner’s solution we’re integrating with ensures a simplified user experience for each Hacken member.

The partner’s solution also provides an automated rewarding system, laid down in the on-chain platform’s functionality. Thus, each reward of 1,000 HAI for full-fledged proposals will be automatically granted to a requester.

More Autonomy & Scaling with SubDAOs

The platform our hDAO will be integrated with allows us to create and manage a subDAO, an autonomous branch of a decentralized organization, operating independently while remaining aligned with the main DAO. SubDAO functions with their own autonomy, economic incentives, and decision-making mechanisms, while still having some level of coordination and relationship with the overarching superDAO. By incorporating flexible subDAOs, the considered platform prevents authority centralization and encourages active participation from every community member, alongside benefiting a DAO in case of its scaling and growing in members’ amount. Additionally, the platform enables subDAOs to become an expert DAO and to obtain Voting Power in other DAOs, which results in the nominal allocation of treasury.

Addressing Security Issues

One of the most prevalent challenges faced by DAOs is sybil attacks. This type of attack involves a single entity or a group creating multiple fake identities to gain unwarranted control over the decision-making process. The consequences of a successful sybil attack can be detrimental, resulting in skewed voting outcomes and undermining the democratic principles at the core of DAOs. Strong focus on security with mentioned non-linear voting and revision systems can significantly decrease such risks.

Expert DAOs and Collaboration

Besides subDAOs, the platform enables expert DAOs, consisting of professionals who possess high knowledge in a particular field. In this way, hDAO can become an expert DAO for another organization and approach newcomers with intellectual leadership from other communities.

  • Through active participation in an expert DAO, you can demonstrate your expertise, enter new projects, solve problems they set, and all without the need to invest in their tokens.

Through shared expertise, the platform enables hDAO to allocate its governance tokens (HAI) to other expert DAOs involved in hDAO, contributing to make it grow steadily. Synergistically solving each other’s problems, this collaborative model sets us apart from traditional token-holding practices in the Web3 space.

hDAO as Trailblazing Cybersecurity Expert DAO

With the partnership we’re working on, hDAO will become the pioneering expert DAO in the cybersecurity sector on the platform, approaching collaborations with more organizations to onboard hDAO as their esteemed expert and further solidifying its position as a trusted and sought-after partner in the cybersecurity landscape.

Conclusion

The platform we are considering for hDAO governance can effectively address the common questions raised in decentralized governance through anti sybil-attack methodology, subDAOs & expert DAO prospects, thereby opening new avenues for the Hacken community to collaborate, scale, and grow personal expertise of each member.

Stay tuned for further updates as we reveal the name of our esteemed partner and embark on this exciting new chapter together.
